Barf on the Shoe!

In the past two days I have been back at school, I have been surrounded by 3 different kids who have thrown up.  2 Kindergartners, who were both in the classroom next to me. And one older kid who was in the bathroom when I happened to be in there.  I have a permanent image of Stan and Wendy Testaburger on South Park.  Everytime Stan sees his crush, Wendy, he throws up.

YUCK.

So, needless to say, there are a few things I have learned:
1. Five year olds never make it to the toilet and tend to drag it all over the place.
2. Breathing Lysol all day makes your throat burn.
3. Solution to stepping in it...drench the kid's shoe in lysol.
4. My kids are healthy so far and it better stay that way.  I've never had to clean up someone's puke and am really not prepared for that.

Thankful for a loooong Weekend!

Thanksgiving this year was the best yet!  I am still off track, and Jake decided to take Wednesday off so we had a 5 day weekend together!  It was like a vacation.  We got to eat breakfast and lunch together each day (which never happens) and just hang out non-stop.  I love having all the time in the world with him...it just doesn't get any better than that.  We went Christmas shopping, went out to dinner, and did LOTS of other fun things:

I know this was the week before..We watched the first half of the BYU/Utah Game at Alex's house.  He had two TV's up.  Stated reason:  because the top one has a 180 degree viewing angle. We went to Bill and Jandie's for the 2nd half.  She made the cutest Rice Krispie treats, in the shape of a RED "U"...GO UTES!!
Us at the Jazz game.... Notice the empty seats?! GO JAZZ!
That is my cute mom. Thanksgiving was awesome.  Jake played football (ofcourse) while I baked my yummy homemade apple pie.  It's actually really funny, I have an old recipe from cooking class in HIGH SCHOOL!  But it is so yummy.  The crust is the best pie crust I have ever tasted.  The bad thing is, I still use the exact copy I got from class.  It has apple pie filling smeared on it, and is ripped.  I think it's about time I transferred it to my recipe book, don't ya think?  (scroll down to pic)  Anywho, Jake and I then hung out at my mom's house with family and friends then ate Thanksgiving dinner at Jake's parents'.  His mom's turkey was amazing, with homemade stuffing (I don't even know what is in it, but I love it.)  My mom makes THE best sweet potatoes, and Jake's mom doesn't usually make them, so my sweet sweet mom made me my own pan of them...I am still enjoying them today.

We finished the night with the movie "Into the Wild" which is a very good movie except for the crazy hippie naked parts, which were unexpected.  I just turn to jake and make grossed out faces at him during those parts while they are getting fast forwarded through.
This is my sister. She is 16 and just started driving. Weird I tell ya.
My adorable grandma Gladys.  She and my mom are the ones who got me to love baking.
My puppy Bailey!  Well, she is almost 7 now...so sad.  I love her to death.  She is a chocolate lab..the cutest one you will ever see.
She loves me cause I am her mommy.  She also loves getting her ears rubbed.
Cutting the pie crust.  Pie is ready to bake!

Chris being gay at Fat Cats...but not really.  He is married to a very pretty girl named Jen.
The follow through...

Tyson and Kyle.
We went bowling at Fat Cats.  I know this sounds lame, but I usually don't bowl when we go...I just hang out at chat with everyone.  Don't get me wrong, I love the atmosphere, and I love hanging out, but for some reason I get bored bowling.  I will throw like 2, then I get bored...then start doing really BAD. So...I just like to cheer on my friends and hubby.
Tyson told me he was the Uni Bomber.  I had to get a pick of the Uni Bomber!
I, am also...The Uni Bomber.  Watch out.
So I substituted at my school a while ago, and as I was driving on the freeway, I drove through spilled WHITE paint!!  Yeah.  Our new DARK colored car had white paint splattered all over it.  Jake and I spent a couple hours cleaning it off.  It is still on two tires but we got it off everything else.  Man that stuff was everywhere.
Nasty recipe.  Good pie.
We went to to a Jazz game for 5 bucks (hence the reason we look like we are directly ABOVE the floor).  We all had a good time and played Uno Attack later with our friend Travis and his girlfriend and also his brother and his girlfriend. I also had a cheese Quesadilla from Taco Bell and highly recommend them.

BAD STORY: Late Saturday afternoon, Jake and I were nestled on the couch watching a movie, when Jake asked me if I heard water.  I had heard it a few minutes before he said that but thought it was our landlady's washer.  Well I got up to check....AAAAHHHH it was RAINING in our little laundry/furnace room!  No kidding!  There was water pouring from the ceiling (mainly the heater vents and light fixtures).  It was terrible. "Oh my gosh..JAKE there is water everywhere! I don't even know where to start!"  That was me freaking out.  Our clothes were drying in there, our pots, crock pot, waffle maker, and panini maker were in there...all DRENCHED.  I called our landlady and she said she left the water running in her bathroom sink....Well it must have been running for a long time!! Luckily it slowly stopped and Jake and I worked to clean everything up.  I cleaned every single pot and pan in there.  Freaky Saturday!!

Jake and I bought The Grinch and Home Alone (both the originals).  I love Christmas movies!!  We watched Home Alone...what a great movie.  I laughed out loud at many parts ("look whatcha did...you little JERK!") ("Keep the change, ya filthy animal!") and I got scared at some parts.  Jake and I decided to hold off on the Grinch until Christmas gets closer.

We also went to see Twlight together..just him and I!  We both liked it, and were pretty entertained.  I felt pretty cool answering his questions about the book! I was surprised he enjoyed it.  He DID laugh out loud at the lame parts.

All in all, our 5 day vacation at home was perfect, and it was really hard to let Jake go to work this morning.  I cannot wait until Christmas...maybe I can convince him to take off another day!

TAG I'm it..

I have been off track for 2 weeks, and have 2 more to go!  Loving it.  The first week I studied for a test I am required to take.  Yeah it really sucked.  But anyway this post is mainly because I got tagged so here it goes! (thanks Ali!)

I am: glad I have time now to exercise as much as I want to.
I think: our times are getting scarier as each year passes.
I know: there is hope. we must have hope!
I want: to pass that test I took....it will take a miracle!
I have: 2 African Dwarf froggies that have been alive for over a year now, who are enjoying their newly upgraded swimming tank.
I dislike: arguers, people with closed minds, and when people don't make an effort to be nice.
I miss: Jake during the long work days....
I fear: the dark, Yogurt Stop closing!! haha
I feel: so good after I run.
I hear: a song from Cinderella playing on my phone, telling me I got a text
I smell: a Ute victory coming on!! (I hope I don't eat my words)
I crave: Mexican food, and frozen yogurt
I usually: clean up the house everyday
I cry: once a month. Things just seem so much worse at that time!
I search: for guidance and answers.
I wonder: what life will be like when Jake is done with school and I have my teaching license
I regret: cutting my hair off...but hey it's still fun. Thanks Meg for my cute hair and bangs...I am happy to have short hair again!
I am happy: when I get to see Jake when he comes home....Home just isn't HOME without him
I wish: Doritos didn't taste so good!
I love: my husband, my family, friends, the temple..the church
I care: about staying in shape. always.
I always: double check our locks before we go to bed.
I worry: about Bailey, my chocolate lab, getting old
I am not: very common sense smart
I remember: fast sunday every month
I believe: there is a big difference between parents who make time to be with their kids and those who don't.
I sing: with everything in the car.
I argue: with no one.
I write: on a whiteboard with cool markers.
I win: not much!  I get bored at many games so I stop trying.
I lose: respect for people who take advantage of other people
I don't understand: why I like to mix my food...cereal mainly.
I can usually be found: wherever jake is, or at my laptop
I need: to decide what to get others for christmas so I can get it done!
I forget: some things about Bailey when she was a puppy
I tag: whoever wants to do this!

Are YOU Passing Kindergarten?

Well it's that time of the school year: Parent Teacher Conferences.  Which means I spend hours here and hours there doing report cards.  Although it takes time, I enjoy it because I get to spend 10-15 concentrating on each individual student.  Which is really hard to find time for.  But I think there are some basic, important things we learn when we are 5 that hopefully we will never forget or let go of...So are YOU passing grade K??
1.  Do you say please and thank you to everyone?
2. Do you tell others you think their shirt is cute, or their hair is pretty?
3.  Do you tell someone everyday that you love them, and give them a two-armed hug, remembering to squeeze so tight with all your might?
4. Do you write your name in your very best handwriting?
5. Do you ask for help when you need it?
6. Do you admit your mistakes and take advice from other people who really want you to succeed, or may not even know you very well?
7. Do you share? (kindergartners never keep things for themselves...food, money, pencils, compliments)
8. Do you have a quiet mouth and LISTEN to others?
9. Do you love everything about everyday, the weather, the leaves, smiles, hugs, recess?
10.  Do you bring little presents to people that you know are simple but will make them smile?
11. Do you use polite words?
10.  Do you day "I CAN DO IT" everyday?
11. Do you forgive and forget?

There is much more!  But I am pretty tired and would love some sleep! TO be continued.... PS here are some glimpses at our lives lately.  I had never seen a throwing up pumpkin until Ashley did this one.  I got a kick out of it.

It's Halloween already!?

The Big Bad Wolf & Little Red Riding Hood
                                            MY!...What big teeth you have!

Out of the hundreds of people, Jake was the only one with a giant mask, it was pretty funny!  Watching him dance was hilarious, poor guy couldn't even see where he was going.

                                              Ooops repeat. Sorry!
Big Bad and Little Red out on the back porch.  This house was pretty amazing.
                                         Water break from dancing!
The Boys: Jake, Kyle (Barney Rubble), and Chris (Mexican)
Chris' wife Jen was Border Patrol...so fun!

So Jake and I went to a Halloween Party Friday night.  This millionaire guy asked Kyle's girlfriend Lindy to plan a party for him at his beautiful house behind the capitol.  I doubt he even knew anyone at his own house!  But hey, we got to party at a mansion and see some crazy costumes so I was glad he did it!  I was stoked to go dressed up with Jake because we haven't ever done that in the past.  He was The Big Bad Wolf and I was Little Red Riding Hood.  Haha Jake's costume makes me fall down laughing every time he wears it!  That mask and gloves were at Savers, as well as the nighty.

Let me tell ya, it has been a while since we have been to a party like this.  It was the typical party with a DJ/dancing, and everything else you would expect.  It was a blast and I think we stayed out later than we have in a while! It was way cool to be up above the Capitol and look out over the city!

I really have started to love Halloween.  Not only the holiday/costumes/pumpkin carving/candy.  But it also brings a great time of year.  I love the leaves, the crisp air, and the impending feeling of Christmas.  Everything is so cozy and warm.  It seems like in our second year of marriage we have more time to prepare for holidays.  Maybe because we are completely settled.  No matter the reason, I am lovin it!

Aahh the Memories...

This is where you go to wait for the rain to stop so you can take pics!
I was looking at some pictures and came across these... I cannot believe this was over a year and a half ago! That day was surreal.  There is my sweet sweet dad, all dressed up.  I love him!  And yes it was POURING, nay...HAILING when we came out of the temple.  Jake's dad says it's a sign of good luck. I have no choice but to agree, since Jake and I as happy as can be.  But honestly when we stepped out onto those steps, I saw the weather and didn't even care.  I just felt so terrible for our "fans" standing in the freezing temps waiting to see us.  And in case you  are wondering, it costs over $100 to get a muddy wedding dress dry cleaned.  Thank you mother!
OH and PS Yes I am wearing pink flip flops.

I Love Fall!

Isn't this one of the best times of the year?  I just love fall.  Jake and I drove up to Guardsman's Pass on Sunday and WOW it was breathtaking.  I have never seen such gleaming gold leaves!  It was drizzling on and off too, and the smell of rain mixed with mountain fall air made me feel so good!  It was that same feeling I get when Jake tickles my back whenever we are sitting next to each other.  I am so mad we didn't bring our camera but we will be back up there soon.

Also, this is such a fun date idea:  Last night Jake and I went to the Zoo after hours.  My mom had tickets for us.  We got there at 7:15 right when it was getting dark.  It was SO fun!  The Zoo is totally creepy at night.  We got to see all the animals, mostly in the dark.   It was weird because we were the only ones there and the animals were eating dinner and going to sleep. (There was some conference and BBQ there for the Health Association, and everyone was at the BBQ, so Jake and I were the only ones walking around to see the animals) So it was just me and Jake and these huge animals just enjoying each other's presence.  Jake and I were running around like kids!  Seriously we had a blast.  The gorillas were falling asleep against the glass and we looked them straight in the eye.  This experience was really cool; we realized how peaceful these animals really are.  They sleep, love, and play just like us!  The Zoo is a totally different (and thrilling) place in the dark!  Thanks mom, for such a fun date for Jake and I during the week!!

As I walk to my classroom each morning, I pass the gym.  Well, I know it's October but the kids choir is practicing christmas songs!  That's right, I get to hear children voices singing christmas songs.  Some may think this is totally annoying, but I really love it.  Not only is is Christmas songs, but they are kid's voices!  It really gets me excited for the next few months.

Anyways, Jake and I are just chugging along in life, agreeing it goes way too fast.  I cannot believe we have been married 17 months.  I couldn't ask for anything better than to live/eat/sleep/play with my best friend.  I honestly don't know what I would do without him.  I don't even want to talk about it so I won't.

But I will say (this is out of nowhere..just popped into my head) I am still amazed and so happy that I got baptized!  I LOVE all my friends who were preparing me starting way back in elementary/middle/high school for November 19, 2005 (the day I got dunked).  You may not have known it then, but you were preparing me for that important decision!!  You know who you are!  You are a huge part in all my conversion talks, you each have a special place in my heart (and testimony) and I love you all.  I can never say thank you enough.

Juice Boxes and Rock Surprises

So the other day one of my girls was walking really funny, kind of like a bowl-legged cowboy. I thought it was a little strange but kindergartners are the epitome of strangeness sometimes so I didn't investigate any further.  Well, school ended and I noticed her pants were now BULGING in the front.  Oh dear.  What in the world could it be??  I am not lying when I say I was totally prepared for ANYTHING because seriously, they really do the most random things!  I walk over to her and bend down to talk to her.  "what do you have in your pants sweetie?" I whispered.  "Oh it's a juice box for my friend." as she pulls out a full on juice box and nonchalantly hands it to her friend.  haha.  It's better than having to carry it around!

Also, this little boy totally made my day.  He colored that picture for me.  That is me, standing next to him.  And yes, that is my badge that I wear everyday, with my picture on it! How cute is that!!  He also said he had a surprise for me.  yeah....it was that rock.  I will add it to my "surprises" collection. The juice box girl gives me surprises every now and then...buttons, cupboard handles, pictures of her sister, stickers...

and that is a normal Kindergarten day.

LIFE AS I KNOW IT:

Well there ya go.  I officially wasted about 30 minutes and your 5 minutes.  I go back to school on Monday and I am way excited to see my kids!! I miss them.  But staying home has been absolutely amazing.  I definitely noticed how much I ponder things in my head.  I mean, I have no one to talk to!   Also here are some things I decided about 5 year olds:
1- Hands down, cutest school age.  I am not joking when I say every single one of my kids is adorable.  Some of my boys are like mini Abercrombie models, no joke. I love my classes!
2- Kindergartners are awesome because they don't stink yet!! Even when they come in from recess!
3-  They don't know what it means to kiss up and they don't know how to really misbehave.  Perfect, really!  Every sweet thing they say is genuine. "Mrs. Peterson, you make my heart happy."  "Mrs. Peterson, you're beautiful."  "I love you teacher!"
4- They make so much progress because it's the first year!!

I think this post is turning out longer than I planned!  But Jake is super busy these days.  He goes to school (majoring in Psych) and work everyday so he doesn't get home until like 6:30 or 7.  He works so hard for us, I love him to death!  He rides his bike A TON as well.  He loves cycling, and his favorite ride at the moment is to the Capitol and back, which is 40 miles. He rides to and from class as well.  He wants to buy me a bike and tells me this everyday.  I am just afraid I will suck and maybe won't use it enough to get the money's worth.  We shall see...it would be fun to bike with my husband.

I just run.  I love it.  I am hoping to do a 10K with Nick and Ashley soon.  I run 25 miles a week and have found it's a perfect amount for me right now.  It's hard when I am teaching because I have to wake up at 5 to run.  And Holliday Blvd is quite dark that early.  Winter is approaching and running in blizzards on icy roads is always fun too.  Just gotta have the right gear!  PS if you see a runner you know, don't honk, it's startling!  I think I might jump in front of a car one day on accident because they honk.

Ok well I am done blabbing. um Oh yeah I cut my hair.. the pics somehow are at the top. My hair was super fly awayish too for some reason.

Lovin It!

Stockin' up on essentials..shoes and wheat!
Rock on. My husband does 'hick' well.
It poured on us at the County Fair Demolition Derby.
                                          Jordan, Jake's brother, was soaked.

Hence...the plastic sack on Jake's head.
                                                   Yeah mine didn't work.
Ps..Jake cut handle bars to fit in with the 'Derby Folk'

So I am now "off track" which means I have three weeks to do whatever I want!  I don't have to work! Wow how cool is that.  So I thought i would show you what I have been up to...today (since it's the first day of my vacation).
After my morning run and breakfast, I was already bored so I left the house at 9:20 to start the day.  Well, I soon discovered the mall opens at 10. So I went to Target to get some stuff for my classroom, and also some ingredients to make Golden Graham S'Mores for our neighborhood cookout tonight.  Anywho..
Jake and I are slowly building our food storage and have recently purchased hundreds of pounds of wheat.  What do you do with wheat, you may ask? You make stuff! Like bread!  Our food storage is going pretty well, Jake put me in charge of the 3 month supply and he does the years' supply, but we still work together on both.  It's funny how creative I get with my 'canned' goods.  Did you know you can buy Mac N Cheese in a can?  Gross. But you can.  Oh and these crazy things called MRE (Meals Ready to Eat).  They last like 10 years and come in a cardboard box.  Yeah.  We have everything from Enchiladas to Terriyaki Chicken.  I am sure they will taste good only when we are desperate, which is what they are for so that's just dandy.
Today I bought some shoes and they are so cute!  I never ever buy shoes (the last time was like 3 years ago) because I hate shoe shopping.  It's hard to think of all your outfits that you need to match. But I love coming home with my finds because they are so cute!  I should be good for a while...seriously.  I know some of you are like WHAT, you bought three pairs.  Adding them to my current collection should be good though.
Also, Jake and I went to the County Fair Demolition Derby with Jordan, his girlfriend, and a bunch of people.  It was a blast, except it POURED on us!! Poor Jo was soaking wet.  I looked over and and he was all curled up like a drowned rat.  Jake brought us plastic sacks (man i really felt like a hick) but they worked ok.  I love County Fairs.  The lights, rides, food, fireworks...so fun!! I hope to attend the State Fair soon.
Finally, my room is pretty much set up now, besides my Centers.  Look at the dolls the kids made!!! They are suppose to look like themselves.  I love it.  That one looks like an Indian!
