Ssshh! Don't Tell!

"Don't tell ANYONE...but Sadie broke up with Jack!  You can't tell anyone!"

And that is the latest from my classroom.

My Second Life

So it is very strange but I feel like I live two lives!  You are wondering why...  Being a year-round teacher gives me the opportunity to have 3 weeks off every 9, so my life goes back and forth from busy to calm in what seems like the blink of an eye!  At work, I go non-stop for 8 hours, keeping track of 42 little rascals, trying to fit everything into each day.  At home, I do "home" things and make sure our errands are ran...

So here is Kim's double life:
I know this is probably weird to many of you but I went on hike last Friday...alone.  Haha ya I was getting ancy and wanted to get out and enjoy the sunny weather!  I needed to get my exercise in for the day and didn't want to run.  So I went to Bells Canyon..This is where Jake proposed to me 2 years ago!
This picture is from the switchbacks at the beginning of the hike.  If you look closely, you can see Brighton High school and if you look REALLY closely you can see Bengal Country (which you Brighton people should definitely remember what that is).
This is the reservoir at mid-hike.  I use to take my chocolate lab Bailey with me here all the time.  But doggies are not allowed, cause they pee in our drinking water!
The Bells Canyon hike is quite vigorous.  Well the first 15 minutes up to the reservoir are easy as pie.  But going up the actual trail above the reservoir is HARD.  I went last summer and was totally in shape ( I had been training for a half-marathon) and i was SOOOO sore the next day.  Let's just say it's super steep and a 3.5 hour hike if you go fast.
Haha I totally got freaked out because I thought this was a bear track.  I did not want to make any friends on this hike!
The southeast side of  Salt Lake Valley
Lonesome (but happy) me!  Am I a dork or what!  Don't be judgin'...

Honestly so beautiful!
Look closely.  There are some rocks by the water.  That my friends is where Jake and I had our first KISS, and where he asked me to marry him!

So as you can see, off-track time is a great time for me to get out and enjoy life at a slower pace.  I also:
-clean                                                  -go running and to the gym at my own leisure
-cook dinner (sometimes)              - read
-bake                                                  -run errands
-do homework (I go to school)      -lots of other things I won't bore you with

Ok and this is my "office" each day I am on track:
I REALLLLY wish I could post pictures of my students.  You would all just die they are so cute.  But this is my room before the tornadoes arrive.  These days, the walls are actually WAY more covered with things we are learning..I will have to post a pic because honestly, my classroom is so full right now.  But I love it.
At work I:
-teach State Curriculum and try to get through all of it
-teach 5-6 yr olds how to read and write
-oh and also how to color, cut, glue, and become somewhat coordinated in everyday things (we take our coordination and hand muscles for granted)
-teach the same lessons twice a day (am/pm)
-get about 30 hugs a day
-get about 2 kisses a day (on the cheek ofcourse)
-hear about Tinkerbell (she is so hot right now) and Transformers
-watch 6 yr old boys stare at their crushes and their heart breaking when they don't get to sit by them
-give out 4 band-aids a week
-watch about 2 kids a day trip and fall over their own feet
-hear Avery's dreams that take 10 minutes to tell (love them!)
-get called 'mom,' grandma, Mr. Peterson, Kimberlie Peterson, and teacher
-hear lots of tattle-tales

And well there are lots more but let's just say my days at work go by much faster and are extremely entertaining!

All you mothers out there have no idea how much teachers witness and hear all day!  You would be surprised and sometimes embarassed!  Like one of my boys use to have really bad GAS and would constantly be lettin' em loose on the carpet.  It is so hard not to laugh.  Then one day we were reading a book about sandwiches and I asked him what kind of sandwich he likes...he said ones with honey and Nutella!!!! hahahahhaha no wonder he farts all the time!!  O just love these kids....
