You're Kidding Me.

Well. I just got back from the Doctor. Let's just say the baby is a naughty baby. After being head down since week 30ish, our little boy has decided to TURN. He is now SIDEWAYS! Otherwise known as Transverse. Mmhmm yes it's pretty self explanatory: His bum is on my right side and his head is on my left side. (but Transverse can also be the other way around)

(i typed Transverse presentation in Google and this pic is the least creepy!)
WOW! Dr. Terry was pretty amazed, and said that this happening is very rare. It is interesting because my belly has been an odd shape the last couple days, and now I know why! Just one week ago, he was still head down. What happened!? I couldn't tell ya. I have noticed in the last couple days his body parts have been in different places, but I do not recall feeling him turn sideways.

The doctor says he will most likely turn back to where he was, because that's how he's been this whole time. I sure hope so! He is running out of time, because soon he will be too big and fat to turn at all and he'll be stuck sideways. This same thing happened to someone in my ward and she said she had a special appointment where the doctor tries to TURN the baby manually, from the outside. She said it was extremely painful, worse than labor contractions. I read online that sometimes during this procedure, they give you an epidural for the pain. I hope that's just the untrusted internet speaking. I use to work with a Midwife at the U, and she has a technique she uses to turn babies, using a blanket. hmmmm....I just hope he turns on his own. If he is stubborn and doesn't ever get back into head down, I will most definitely have to have C Section! You cannot deliver a sideways baby haha! I am not opposed to that if that's the only way to safely get him out, but ofcourse would prefer regular delivery. I guess we'll see next week if he's decided to be a good little baby!!

To top things off, I have NOT dilated ONE BIT. Nor thinned. Goes to show even if you have ten thousand B.H. contractions lol it doesn't make one bit of difference! I am 36 and a half weeks. When I go back, I will be just shy of 38 weeks. I am praying for progress, and for this baby to turn by then! I really don't think he'll be small enough to turn after that.

This appointment was funny, but I'm sure I'll loose it and cry tonight. It's like I took one step backward. I'm defintely at a point now where I am super emotional and want to cry when I begin to pitty myself. But I haven't let it happen yet. I need to try to keep busy and think of those who've gone through some rough last weeks (dear Jandie). I am having a ton of fun setting up the nursery and getting his laundry done though! Preparing is so fun. Jake and I seriously cannot wait to hold this little guy (Jake is very excited to wrap him in his blue monster hooded towel) no matter how he gets here..C section or not! Send me some good "turning" and "progression" vibes!

My opinion on being checked: It hurts! But it's quick so that's good. Based on the pain factor, it felt like his whole fist, but I wasn't watching haha so I don't know what all was up there! Boy oh boy though, I sure squirmed on that table. Yipes!

Awwwh Kim! That naughty boy! My vibes are tellin me he will turn back on his own. Maybe he just needed to stretch his back in there, I mean we all need to move around once in a while, right? I dont have anything great to say about the turning procedure, one of my good friends just had it done a couple months ago( her baby was breech) and said it hurt like @*&! so I will pray for you that you dont have to go through that. It didnt work for her either, to make it worse. Also, I TOTALLY agree about getting checked. When I was in labor and the doctor would check me, I would bawl my eyes out. It feels like 2 hands and arms are up inside you! That honestly is what I dread the most about my next baby! I dont want the dreaded checking again! On a lighter note, I wasnt dilated at all that early either, then at my 38 weeks all of a sudden I was at like almost a 2 and 70%. So dont you fret! He has to come out, either way! You are almost there...these last few weeks will drag, but the second you have him time will literally go like the speed of lightening, so dont blink. He will grow right before your eyes!!! Cant wait to meet this little guy!!! :)

You're so funny to read! That is a huge bummer, though! Hopefully he turns back down. I had a C-section with Emmett and it wasn't bad at all. There is definitely something to be said for a.) knowing when you're going to have the baby, b.) having the baby and being done in 20-30 minutes, c.) not having any contractions, d.) getting to spend more time resting in the hospital which means the nurses are taking care of your newborn during the night, e.) your "land down under" doesn't get turned to ground beef, f.) You don't have to worry about the cord being wrapped around your baby's neck. :) These are all the types of things I had to think of when I found out I needed a C-section and it helped a lot. Personally, now... I think a vaginal birth sounds just terrifying! I'd rather have a C-section than have my baby turned (which I have also heard absolutely kills) and then have a 20-hour labor and vaginal birth, but that's just me. Hang in there! It will all work out one way or another!

Like I've already said, you poor girl! I'm sure he'll decide to turn back around, but if not, I blame Jake for sending C-section vibes! ;)

I don't know why, but I thought getting "checked" wasn't a big deal AT ALL until I was in labor. Maybe I just lucked out. Anyway, my BH contractions didn't do me a bit of good either (stupid annoying things!).

Hang in there, no matter how he decides to exit, it won't matter once he's here, I promise!

Oh goodness I will send good vibes your way for sure...what a little stinker! He is being a typical boy already totally unpredictable (ha ha ha!) Don't worry about not dialating or effacing yet with your first it could seriously happen over night. when I went in for my final apt before having Lydia I had no progress the next day (Friday, when you came in to get sub plans) I was in labor, and it still took three days of labor after that so don't get discouraged, just hang in there and enjoy this time, go on a really nice date with Jake to celebrate your last weeks of just the two of ya!
