Stats:
-14lb 15oz (about 50%) the exact same weight as his best friend Logan! I knew they were good buddies haha
-25inches (about 50%)
-head: whopping 90%....are we surprised?
Austin loves his Snoopy friend. Snoopy sits on top of a dresser we have with other "friends" and Austin talks to them all the time lol.
Tummy time (this pic was at about 3months). Sometimes when he's on his tummy he'll get so close to rolling over, it's so funny to watch. He makes sounds like he's working out at the gym!
He likes to suck on the beak of this hen. I call it "sucking face" haha.
Little guy got blessed this month! It was such a great day! We went over to my mom's afterwards for delicious pork tacos, yummy desserts, and some good family time. I cannot believe I didn't get a picture of him with my mom (sad...sorry mom!) but here he is with me and Jake's mom.
Austin seems to like to copy his mommy and daddy. First was blowing bubbles with his lips, and now in the middle of playing, he'll stop cooing...get a concentrated look on his face...and slooowly raise his arms straight up above his head (like Ricky Bobby on Taladega Nights when he's being interviewed by the news reporter and he's like 'I don't know what to do with my hands'). Then he'll hold them there for a good 4 or 5 seconds...it's hilarious! Oh and yes those pants are unbuttoned...he had just eaten and his belly was a little 'inflated'!
He goes crazy when he chews on things. He likes this spatula (my favorite one!..oh well) He'll just chew and chew and chew.
Some other fun things:
-He is very ticklish! On his ribs, on his back, on his thighs, you name it!! And his laugh is so boyish, like not squeaky or high pitched...it's deep and grunty (but cute grunty haha). I love it!
-He loves it when I read to him..his favorites at the moment are Brown Bear Brown Bear, a Color book, and a touch and feel farm animal book. Oh and Goodnight Moon (at bedtime ofcourse). We also read the Book of Mormon before bed..I'm sure that one's REALLY entertaining for him lol!
-Austin is very interested in feeling things. Put anything in front of his face and he'll touch/grab/hold it. And ofcourse it goes straight to his mouth if he can get a hold of it.
Eating: still loves to eat! The Dr said we could try cereal now so I am super excited to see Austin's reaction! I honestly don't think he's ready yet because I've held one of his spoons up to his mouth and he doesn't even care. But it will be fun to try here and there!
Sleeping: I'm trying uliminate "sleep cruches" so he can start falling asleep on his own. I recently got rid of the binky (which he spit out or I pulled out anyway before putting him in his crib). And now I am working on laying him in his crib when he is still sleepy but awake. He's a good sleeper and I don't want to screw that up! He still goes to bed between 9 and 10 and wakes up between 7 and 8. He takes 4 naps a day, usually one long one (1-2 hrs) and then the rest are 30-45 min.
Mom and Dad: yes there is a mom and dad section! We are loving being parents! Guess what, we have yet to go out without Austin haha so that is my goal very soon. I've left him with my mom a few times when I have Dr appointments but Jake and I are due for a date for sure!
It's so fun to watch Austin and see us both in him. We have so much fun playing with him, and taking care of him together. Parenthood is soooo crazy but honestly the biggest blessing! I recently went up to Utah State to speak on a panel of "new parents" for my sister's Marriage and Families class. At the end, one student commented "so...having a baby sounds like a lot of work and responsibility, and after today's conversation it sounds kinda sucky. Are there any pros to having a child?"
REALLY!!? Dude, who is this kid!? I thought about his question from that point on, for the next 24 hours. I wish I could have told him: "Yes, it IS a lot of work and responsibility. I mean hello, you're taking care of a helpless little tiny human being who can't do anything for themselves. What do you expect? But it makes you the happiest you've ever been, and brings joy like non other because you HAVE to be completely selfless to take care of your baby. They are your first priority. And being selfless brings pure happiness and fulfillment. You are finally giving your all to this little creature and your needs come last. THAT is happiness." and then I would have added "so there. you're obviously not read for a baby so you better not go out and get someone pregnant because life is gonna hit you hard when that baby comes and well since you're not ready for that it's gonna be tough shiz!" hahaha really I wouldn't have said that but I wanted to!
Anyways I love being a mom and watching Jake be dad. It's the most exciting thing to watch Austin learn and grow. This is random but I can't wait for when he's in Kindergarten haha, but that's so far away! I love that age though!

My answer to that kid would have been "Not for you." :)
I just love "little" Austin. He looks so studly in his little vest & pants!! And yes it is definitely time you guys have a date night w/o him; it's good for you guys to get some relationship time and good for Austin to get some other caregiver (esp grandma/grandpa) time! Can't wait to see his sweet chucky-ness soon. (oh and you and jake too of course)
Wow! He is one cute kid!!! Thanks for the update and all of the pictures since it feels like we never get out to see you guys.
What a studly guy! He looks so cute in his little suit! I love it!
