Our Little Guy

Austin's baby pictures finally came. First of all, Jake and I are not really professional photographer type people. And when the photographer lady came to my room in the hospital I was kind of bothered and politely told her no thank you. But...then my mind got to thinking. How badly I wanted to freeze frame this little guy in his first few days of life because I knew he would be changing. Plus, our camera was broken and we still hadn't gotten a new one, so we really didn't have too many pics of Austin. So I asked my nurse to tell the photographer to come back!

She finally did and it was right when A) Austin needed to go back to the nursery B)The nurse had come to take my staples out C) We were visited by the social security lady once again to collect our paper work..but we hadn't decided a middle name quite yet. Needless to say my room was full of people and Austin was also getting hungry. But the photographer was able to squeeze in a few pics in about a 10-15 min time frame. And well, we were in love the second she showed them to us!

Jake and I were very pleased with how they turned out. We did not want anything to elaborate or strange. So these were fit for our liking ;-)

I love how spiky and messy his hair is!

Anyway, I never thought I would be buying professional pics but I just loved these!!
Baby Austin is doing wonderful. At his 2 week appt, he weighed 8lb 9oz. The pediatrician is very pleased with his gain, considering his loss in the hospital (he weighed 7lb 4oz at one point). They pricked his heel and honestly it absolutely killed me to watch him wail from pain. I cried with him. He probably thought I was a mean mommy to let the nurse do that to him. Stupid vampires, I tell ya!!
- He eats and eats. Man that boy can eat. I nurse him from both sides about 10 min each, then he takes a 2-3 oz bottle after.
- We haven't made a point to put him on a schedule but he has made his own. He just wakes up every 3-4 hrs to eat. He does that 24/7 so I am still getting up with him about twice at night. It's crazy how you get use to that! I don't get a ton of sleep but I am totally fine through the day. Once we tried to keep him up later to see if he'd sleep longer at night, and he ended up sleeping like one hour longer then the next time he woke, he slept one hour shorter so that wasn't so great for me.
- He enjoys bathtime and it's great to watch Jake bathe his little boy!
- He has a way cute cry that sounds like a little yelp sometimes
- He can take up to 45 minutes to fully wake up. He'll just fuss and wimper every 10 minutes or so. Totally jake's boy!
- I think he is looking more and more like Jake each day
- Jake and I have been trying to get a booger out of his nose for a while and well, today he sneezed it out and it flew into the air, and landed on his cheek!
- He has peed on: the wall, his mom, his head, his face, his dresser, the floor, his towel, and oh yeah..his diaper ofcourse.
- He likes massages with baby lotion
ME (like you care haha)
- I'm healing well. Incision is great, still some pain but I'm off pain meds so that's good.
-Belly is slooooowly shrinking. It will be a while ;-)
- I stepped on my mom's scale and have lost 35 pounds..wow I was shocked. I still have a good 15-18 to loose though!
- I have learned I am too rigid of a schedule-type person. With a baby you just handle things as they come and I am learning to "let it go" if the schedule is thrown off!
-I am LOVING sleeping like a normal person and cuddling with my husband!
- I am getting braver at going out with AUstin and CANNOT wait until I can carry him in his carseat without help. 3 more weeks!
-I love my baby boy and have loved watching Jake be a dad. What a crazy/awesome new chapter in our life!!!

Ok those pics are to die for. He is so precious!!! Oh, and Boston still wakes up 2-3 times during the night, so dont feel bad. P.S. I have the best kept secret to those dang boogers that wont come out. If you want to know, text me or facebook message me. Other people might think im crazy or weird but it works every time, until they get about 4 -5 months old! :)

Glad to hear that he is doing well, and that he is on somewhat of a schedule (gotta love that!) And so glad that you are recooperating well too, it is always an adjustment but who are we kidding they are totally work it (ha ha ha!) We can't wait to meet the little guy, and for Audrey to meet her future love interest (ha ha ah!)

The pics are precious! My mom talked me into Brekke's newborn pics even though I wasn't really into the idea and now I love them so so much. You'll be even happier you did them down the road when you can hardly remember him being so small *tear*
